Tracking Cylinder Movements

Moving a Cylinder

From the Cylinder Detail Page

  1. Click Cylinders in the sidebar
  2. Click on the cylinder you want to move
  3. Click Move Cylinder
  4. Select the destination
  5. Add notes (optional)
  6. Click Record Movement

Movement Types

Location to Location:

  • Shop to customer site
  • Customer site to another customer site
  • Warehouse to shop

Location to Vehicle:

  • Loading cylinders onto a technician's truck
  • Preparing for mobile service

Vehicle to Location:

  • Delivering cylinders to job site
  • Returning cylinders to shop
  • Dropping off at customer location

Vehicle to Vehicle:

  • Transferring between technicians
  • Load balancing inventory

Understanding Movement Records

Each movement creates a record showing:

  • From: Previous location or vehicle
  • To: New location or vehicle
  • Date: When the movement occurred
  • Moved By: User who recorded the movement
  • Notes: Any additional information

Viewing Movement History

For a Specific Cylinder

  1. Open the cylinder detail page
  2. Scroll to Movement History section
  3. View all movements in chronological order

For All Cylinders

View movements across your inventory:

  • Filter by date range
  • Filter by location
  • Filter by user who moved them

Notes on Movements

Use the notes field to record:

  • Why the cylinder was moved
  • Job or project reference
  • Special handling instructions
  • Any issues encountered

Example Notes:

  • "Delivering for Unit A/C repair"
  • "Empty cylinder returning from job site"
  • "Transfer to tech closer to emergency call"

Best Practices

Record Movements Promptly

Update cylinder locations as they happen:

  • Before leaving the shop
  • When arriving at job site
  • When returning from service calls

Use Clear Notes

Add context that helps you later:

  • Job reference
  • Customer name
  • Purpose of movement
  • Any observations

Verify Location

Check current location before moving:

  • Ensures accurate starting point
  • Helps find misplaced cylinders
  • Maintains clean records
