RefriTrak Is Now Free for Small Businesses
After a lot of consideration, I've decided to make RefriTrak free. Every feature, no paywall, for any company doing less than $3 million a year in revenue. Here's why, and what it means for you.
How RefriTrak Started
I spent a long time building this software. A mix of hands-on operational experience and software development background, along with a real business opportunity, led me to start the project. It began as a simple cylinder tracker and grew into a full, enterprise-grade suite for refrigerant tracking and EPA compliance.
Why I'm Making It Free
In the year or so since launch, a number of refrigerant tracking clones have appeared. I don't have the marketing budget, or the time anymore, to compete with established companies or with the wave of AI-generated platforms.
I had two choices: leave RefriTrak behind a paywall and let it fade away, or open it up so it keeps being useful. I chose the second. At this point I care less about making money from it and more about helping businesses stay compliant and keeping refrigerant out of the atmosphere.
Many companies in this space have spent millions on development and marketing. RefriTrak cost me my own time. That's what makes it possible to give it away.
Where RefriTrak Stands Today

RefriTrak has nearly every feature you'll find in paid refrigerant tracking software, plus several you won't. The architecture is built to be SOC 2 ready. I won't repeat the full feature list here (the features page covers it), and I'm sure some people will think I'm crazy for giving this away.

What About AI?
AI features stay pay-as-you-go, because every AI request has a real cost. That now includes the nameplate scanner, which was previously bundled with paid plans. Add credits from your organization settings and use them for Piper and the scanner as needed.
What Happens Next
I'll keep RefriTrak secure and maintained, and I'll push updates and fixes as needed. I won't be building new features, at least not for free. What's here today is what you get, and it's a lot.
Who Qualifies
RefriTrak is free for companies with less than $3 million in annual revenue. I won't be asking for tax returns or verifying anything; it's an honor system. The short version: if you're a small business, it's free.
